Led by Edy, IMI South Kalimantan Becomes the Best and Number One in Indonesia

Jakarta — The Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) South Kalimantan branch made history by winning the title of Best IMI Nationally at the 2025 IMI Awards, held in conjunction with IMI’s 120th Anniversary celebrations at the Tribrata Building, Jakarta, on Wednesday (July 1, 2026).

This prestigious achievement is attributed to the leadership of the Chairman of IMI South Kalimantan, Ir. H. Edy Sudarmadi, who is credited with successfully reforming the organization, leading IMI South Kalimantan to become one of the most accomplished automotive organizations in Indonesia.

Emotional and tense atmosphere gripped the IMI South Kalimantan management during the announcement. Edy, along with the Head of Mobility for IMI South Kalimantan, HM Arief Husaini, participated in the event via video call while awaiting the announcement from IMI Chairman Moreno Soeprapto.

The tension finally gave way to joy when Moreno Soeprapto officially announced IMI South Kalimantan as the Best IMI Nationally. IMI West Java came in second place, while IMI DKI Jakarta came in third.

“Thank God, the hard work of the entire IMI South Kalimantan management and secretariat has finally borne extraordinary fruit. The two-year wait has finally paid off,” said Edy.

Edy was unable to attend the event in person due to mourning the death of a family member. The award trophy was symbolically received by the Secretary of IMI South Kalimantan, M. Ramli Firdaus, from the Chairman of IMI, Moreno Soeprapto.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for IMI South Kalimantan. In the previous two years, IMI South Kalimantan had ranked at the bottom of the national assessment, dominated by IMI West Java and East Java. However, through organizational reform, improved governance, and consistent work programs, IMI South Kalimantan has successfully risen to become the best in Indonesia.

Not only successful in the organizational arena, IMI South Kalimantan also boasted a number of achievements from its automotive athletes at the national level.

In the motocross category, Ahmad Aufar won the 65cc category, while Akhmad Susilo achieved success in the 65cc Novice category.

Meanwhile, jet ski racer from Banjarmasin, Fakhrul R. Berutu, brought honor to his region after winning the Aquabike GP2 class.

Another achievement came from the 2025 National Time Rally Championship. Four IMI South Kalimantan administrators, M. Khairi, HM Arief Husaini, M. Ramli Firdaus, and Erwin Rosadi, helped the Daihatsu Sport Rally Team win First Place in the National Non-Seeded Class, alongside Hongki Regina, Cailendra Budi Atmaka, and Juli Putra in the Seeded A Class.

Overall, IMI South Kalimantan took home six awards at the 2025 IMI Awards.

This achievement was the result of an assessment of IMI South Kalimantan’s orderly and professional organizational governance, sound administration, and consistency in organizing various automotive activities, from two-wheeled and four-wheeled competitions to community mobility programs.

“Thank you for the support of all automotive enthusiasts in South Kalimantan. We ask for your prayers and support so that we can maintain this achievement in the years to come,” concluded Edy.
