France’s TotalEnergies (TTEF.PA) announced on Tuesday that it has signed a 21-year power supply agreement with Alphabet-owned Google (GOOGL.O), pledging to supply 1 terawatt-hour of renewable energy to power a Google data center in Malaysia.
Reuters reported that the French energy giant said the electricity will be generated by the new Citra Energies solar power plant in Malaysia, scheduled for construction in early 2026.

The power supply contract is expected to take effect in the first quarter of next year.
In a separate deal signed in November, TotalEnergies also agreed to supply power to Google’s US-based data center in Ohio.
Data centers, largely built by major technology companies, require increasing amounts of energy as tech groups race to meet the demands of AI development, which often outstrips the capacity of domestic electricity utilities.
