BANJARBARU – The Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) of the South Kalimantan Regional Police continues its efforts to improve the quality of public services through the implementation of the Polantas KARIB Program. This program is a strategic step in creating a more humane, responsive, and community-focused traffic police force through education, partnerships, and digital transformation.
The Director of Traffic for the South Kalimantan Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Fahri Siregar, stated that the implementation of Polantas KARIB is being realized through various concrete programs on the ground. One of these is increasing the presence of personnel in schools and universities.
“The presence of Polantas personnel aims to help regulate traffic flow, assist students crossing the road, and provide education and outreach regarding the importance of orderly traffic,” Fahri said in Banjarbaru on Friday.
In addition to strengthening direct services, the Ditlantas Polda Kalsel is also continuing to develop a digital-based service system. This transformation is being carried out to provide faster, easier, more transparent, and more efficient services to the public.
According to Fahri, increasingly modern services must be accompanied by an active presence of traffic police within the community. In this way, public trust in the police institution can continue to increase, while simultaneously encouraging public awareness of complying with traffic regulations.
The Polantas KARIB program itself is an implementation of the vision and mission of the Chief of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, Inspector General Wibowo, which emphasizes strengthening services, partnerships, and the presence of traffic police within the community. The word “KARIB” signifies a close, intimate, and friendly relationship between the police and the community.
More than just a slogan, KARIB is also an acronym for five core values that guide all traffic police personnel: Partnership, Active, Responsive, Intuitive, and Integrity.
Through these values, every traffic police officer is encouraged to build collaborations with various stakeholders and the community in finding solutions to various traffic problems. Personnel are also required to actively provide services, respond quickly to every problem, be sensitive to conditions on the ground, and uphold integrity in carrying out their duties.
With the implementation of the Polantas KARIB program, the South Kalimantan Regional Police Traffic Directorate hopes that traffic police services will become more professional, modern, and trusted by the public. This program is also expected to be able to create a sustainable culture of orderly traffic and strengthen synergy between the police and the community in realizing security, safety, order, and smooth traffic flow.
