BANJARMASIN — The floodwaters that have inundated Sungai Pinang Village, South Kalimantan, show no signs of receding. The overflowing Pinang River due to heavy rainfall over the past few weeks has inundated residential areas and disrupted daily activities.
The water level in several areas has reached tens of centimeters, submerging residents’ homes, roads, and public facilities. The flooding, which has lasted for almost a month, has impacted the social and economic conditions of residents, particularly in meeting daily needs.
Amidst this situation, the Indonesian Motorcycle Association (IMI) of South Kalimantan distributed aid to flood-affected residents. The aid was handed over in Sungai Pinang Village on Sunday (January 11, 2026).
The Chairman of IMI South Kalimantan, H. Eddy Sudarmadi, stated that the aid came from donations from IMI South Kalimantan members. The aid distributed consisted of basic food items and daily necessities.
“We hope this assistance can help ease the burden on affected residents, considering the flooding has been going on for quite some time,” said Eddy.

He added that this activity is a form of concern and solidarity from the South Kalimantan IMI for the affected communities. The South Kalimantan IMI also hopes that flood conditions will improve soon so residents can return to their normal activities.
Meanwhile, the local government, along with relevant agencies, continues to monitor flood conditions and carry out mitigation efforts on the ground. The public is advised to remain vigilant for potential increases in water levels, as weather forecasts still indicate the possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall in the next few days.
