Following the inauguration of the Village Guard Newsroom Working Group in Bali Province, the Indonesian Cyber Media Union (SMSI) continued its inauguration and inauguration of the Village Guard Newsroom Working Group at the Lampung Province and Regency/City levels at the Yunna Hotel in Lampung on Thursday (July 16, 2026).
This activity is part of SMSI’s support for transparent, accountable, and legal-free village governance.
The Village Guard Newsroom Working Group program aims to provide assistance, oversight, and legal literacy to village officials in managing village funds and assets in accordance with statutory provisions.
This program is also part of the implementation of the Village Guard Attorney Program (Jaga Desa), initiated by the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office.
The inauguration of the Lampung Province Village Guard Newsroom Working Group was conducted directly by the General Chair of SMSI Central Office, Firdaus. The inauguration of the Regency/City Village Guard Newsroom Working Group was led by the Chair of SMSI Lampung Province, Donny Irawan, SE.
Firdaus, Chairman of the Indonesian Student Association (SMSI), stated that the Village Newsroom Working Group (Pokja) was established through an integrated network system from the central government to the regional governments. This allows any issues arising in villages to be immediately identified through media monitoring within the National Armed Forces Agency (ABPEDNAS), and solutions can be sought before they escalate into legal matters.
“The process will consist of a central newsroom, a Pokja Newsroom coordinator at the provincial level, and then at the district/city level. Each district will establish a sub-district coordinator with members from various villages. This program was established to address various issues that arise at the village level to prevent them from becoming legal,” Firdaus said.
He stated that all information and issues arising in villages will be connected and integrated into the national system through the Pokja Newsroom network, which is spread throughout Indonesia.
“Any issues in villages will be integrated with the central government through the Pokja Newsroom network. This program, established by the Attorney General’s Office, emphasizes the management of development programs, which are part of state assets located in villages, so that they are managed effectively according to their intended use and applicable regulations,” he said.
Firdaus emphasized that the program is a preventative measure to prevent misuse of village funds and village assets.
“This program is designed to prevent misuse and corruption, while ensuring that development programs are accountable and on-target. This is integrated with the Attorney General’s Office’s Intelligence and Intelligence program, along with the National APEDNAS (National Agency for the Assessment and Application of Data) and the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information (SMSI) through the establishment of the Newsroom Working Group,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Donny Irawan, Head of the Lampung Province SMSI, expressed his hope that the newly inaugurated Village Newsroom Working Group will be able to fulfill its duties as an information bridge and partner for the government and the Attorney General’s Office in overseeing village development.
“We hope that the Lampung Province Village Newsroom Working Group can become a collaborative platform between the media, the Attorney General’s Office, regional governments, and village governments. This working group is not here to find fault, but rather to provide education, assistance, and build legal awareness so that village governance improves and communities benefit from development,” Donny said.
He also urged all Working Group administrators at the provincial and district/city levels to carry out their duties professionally and maintain independence in conveying information to the public.
“Let’s make the Village Guard Newsroom Working Group a strategic partner in overseeing village development through objective, educational reporting that supports the interests of the community,” he added.
“We hope the Village Guard Newsroom Working Group can become a strategic partner of the Lampung Provincial Government in supporting the Governor’s program, which currently focuses on making villages centers of economic growth through food self-sufficiency. Synergy between the government, the Attorney General’s Office, and the media is crucial for ensuring village development is more transparent and on-target,” said Ganjar.
He explained that the Lampung Provincial Government is currently promoting village downstreaming through the Desaku Maju Program, including the development of Liquid Biofertilizer (PHC) or Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) distributed free of charge to farmers to support agricultural modernization.
In addition, the government is also strengthening the processing of superior commodities such as rice, cassava, rubber, and coffee so that the added economic value can be directly enjoyed by village communities. Other support includes the provision of dryers, the development of rice milling facilities, and the implementation of modern agricultural technologies such as the use of drones for more efficient fertilizer spraying.
“By strengthening the village economy and good governance, we are optimistic that the welfare of farmers and village communities will continue to improve. Therefore, we welcome the presence of the Village Guard Newsroom Working Group as part of participatory oversight,” he said.
Also present at the event were the Chairman of the Central SMSI, Firdaus; Deputy Chairman Yono Hartono; Director General Arif Zen Mustofa; and the Chairman of the Lampung Province SMSI, Donny Irawan, SE; the Head of the Lampung Province Communications and Informatics Office, Ganjar Jationo; Wilson, a representative of the Lampung High Prosecutor’s Office; and officials of the Village Guard Newsroom Working Group at the provincial and district/city levels throughout Lampung.
Through the Village Guard Prosecutor Program (Jaga Desa), the Prosecutor’s Office serves not only as a law enforcement officer but also as a partner and consultant to village governments. This preventive approach is expected to prevent irregularities in village financial and asset management while simultaneously increasing the capacity of village officials to achieve clean, professional, and integrated governance.
